Curriculum
Broadbeach Waters Kindergarten supports every child’s right to experience the joy of childhood. Learning is promoted through child led play-based curriculum and guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) as a framework aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework.
Both these government frameworks share an image of the child as ‘rich in potential, strong, powerful, competent, and most of all connected to adults and other children’. The children’s interests, ideas and knowledge bases make up the content of our programs. Each child’s self-esteem, self-reliance and competence are nurtured and developed through a variety of developmentally appropriate activities. As children play, learning occurs in a variety of ways including real-life situations, investigations, focused learning situations and problem solving. The program provides experiences that foster physical, social, emotional, intellectual, expressive and receptive language development. A balanced daily routine includes:

Curriculum Goals for Kindergarten
This entire program is always flexible and responsive to children’s present abilities, interests and emerging skills.
Observation of the children and assessment of their individual needs and interests are the catalysts for our program planning. Documentation is another important part of our program. This includes written notes, taking photographs, children’s graphic representations and other collected materials used to analyse and develop further learning.
Communication between kindergarten and families is considered essential in supporting each child’s growth and development. Our main form of communication will occur through the secure online platform, Storypark. This private network allows us to document children’s learning and development and at the same time share this with families. Families can engage with their child’s learning journey and collaborate with teachers and educators to develop a strong partnership.

The last day of Kindy seemed to creep up so slowly yet go so fast that I nearly missed it. I have only now sat down, and realised the significance of the last year and felt that there was still some need to send an email to thank you and Mandy and Kate for the time you gave to my daughter this year.

Sophia hasn’t stopped talking about the bees and the honey – well done for providing such a holistic experience for the kids
